A lot of people feel that the song respect has to have been made for Aretha Franklin because it is just one powerful song that managed to make a lot of people listen. The truth is that this is one song that she did not write and she was not supposed to sing that song too. Yet, her rendition of the song became so popular that it became her song.
This became the anthem of black women who would like to gain respect and equality from the society as a whole. Remember that this was during the 60’s when women were still not being given enough attention and black women had a harder time trying to prove their worth. She probably released the song at the right time.
