It was in the year 2009 when Aretha Franklin sang at Obama’s inauguration. She sang My Country ‘Tis of Thee. A lot of people still say that it is one of the most stunning renditions that they have heard. There was just so much heart put into that song that even for a brief moment, people felt united.
Another thing that was evident about Franklin is that she never wanted to do pre-recording. She wanted to show the world that she is capable and every time she opens her mouth to sing, that is exactly what she can prove to people. It was not the first time that Franklin was able to stun people with her performance. She did it for decades and her abilities have truly made her the “Queen of Soul.”
