Most boys don't need to or want to apply make-up on their faces unless they will be appearing on TV, in the movies, or on stage. The main reason most boys don't want to apply makeup is that is has been tradionally used primarily only by women and they are afraid to be ridiculed by their friends.
Wearing makeup in front of cameras or on stage is different and its often needed because camera lights will cause any imperfections to be magnified and most people, including boys, want to have a neater, cleaner look. In addition, since everyone else is wearing makeup if a boy were to appear on camera without makeup, he would definitely stand out.
