Khushwant Singh wrote many novels, historical fiction and non-fiction books, and short stories. His most well-known novel is Train to Pakistan (1956) but his most “widely acclaimed famous” novel is I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale (1959).
Other well-known books include: The Good, The Bad and The Ridiculous (with Humra Quraishi), The Portrait of a Lady: Collected Stories (2013), The Sunset Club (2010), Death at My Doorstep (2005), Truth, Love and a Little Malice: An Autobiography (2002), Women and Men in My Life (1995), Delhi: A Novel (1990), and A History Of The Sikhs 1469-1839 (Volume 1).
