The brain does not continue to function after death. Death occurs when the brain dies. A person’s heart and lungs can be kept functional by machines but there is no way to keep a brain alive after it has been severely damaged by oxygen deprivation or injury from a stroke or by other means.

In years past, some reflex movements have been reported in brain-dead patients but these have since been attributed to spinal cord neurons.
