It is practically impossible to pick one gruesome death as the most gruesome in the history of the world. There are simply just too many and what is gruesome to one person may not be so gruesome to someone else. Unfortunately, there are a lot from which to choose.
Any death involving skin being removed or burning is particularly gruesome in my opinion. And, as I said, there have been many of these caused by accidental radiation exposure, falling into hot springs, being burned while alive, and more. But, I think the death of Brunhilda is particularly grisly. Reportedly, her limbs were tied to four horses and her body was torn apart.
