A desert wild fire is not too much different from a forest fire except that fires in deserts occur less frequently. All fires need fuel, oxygen, and an ignition source (heat). The ignition source in a desert fire is most often lightening whereas in a forest fire, about 90% are caused by humans.
The fuel in a desert fire is mainly the desert plants. Temperature plays a role also because the plants and ground in a desert fire have been pre-heated by the sun and as a result, will burn more rapidly. The temperature of the ground also affects the movement of air currents.
