The two women are very competitive concerning their career. Apparently, Katy Perry tried to disrupt a whole arena tour. She attempted to hire a bunch of people out from under Swift. In a profile for Australia's Examiner in 2013, Lockhart Brownie said that he and three other dancers had left Swift mid-tour to work with Perry and this was before the feud even went public.
Brownie told the Examiner that he worked on Swift's "Red" tour for six months. Then, he and two other dancers worked with Perry. One of the stolen dancers was working with Perry when she performed at the Superbowl Halftime Show.
