Can you name these components correctly? The nucleus controls all the activities of the cell and acts as a site of DNA material and protein synthesis. It is composed of some components which all together give the nucleus its functionality. Here is shown a figure of nucleus with some of its components labeled as A, B, C and D.
Label A is Nucleolus, which is the largest structure in the eukaryotic cells nucleus. The process of ribosome biogenesis occurs in the nucleolus. Label B is Chromatin, which is found in eukaryotic cells. It is a complex of both DNA and protein. Chromatin packages long DNA and make them more compact. Label C represents the Nuclear membrane.
This membrane closes in the nucleus and is home to genetic material. Label D represents Nucleoplasm, which includes the nucleolus and chromosomes. Here many substances are dissolved including enzymes and DNA replication. Nucleoplasm can also be referred to as nucleus sap or karyoplasm.
