Rastafari is generally distinguished for asserting the doctrine that Haile Selassie I, the former and final, is a reincarnation of the Christian God, called Jah. They see Haile Selassie I as being the second coming of Jesus Christ to earth. They paint him as the black hero.

They regard him as being God, not only because he was the king of Ethiopia, but because he was a leader who was widely accepted by the governments of Europe. When he was crowned Emperor in 1930, Jamaica worshipped him.
