Modern bears comprise eight species in three subfamilies. To keep it simple, these bears have common names. American Black Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Spectacled Bear, Sun Bear, Sloth Bear, and the Giant Panda.
One of all species of bears is classified in seven subfamilies: Amphicynodontinae, Hemicyoninae, Ursavinae, Agrotheriinae, Ailuroppdinae, Tremarctinae, and Ursinae. These bears appear in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Western Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Bears are found in continents of North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
