A man known as Dan Cooper was supposedly on Orient Airline Flight 305, which was boarded in Portland, and, bound for Seattle, in November 1971. Somewhere between Seattle and Reno, Cooper tied the bag of cash to his body and jumped from the airplane and it was assumed he died on impact.
In 1980, an eight-year-old boy found three piles of $20 bills with serial numbers matching the cash which had been in Cooper's possession. Cooper’s body was never found, which led to many different theories concerning his whereabouts. It continues to be one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Not a trace of Dan Cooper's remains was ever recovered.
