It's probably equal for men and women. those who just want sex without any commitment or even any effort at friendship will go for a hook-up, and if in company with others hooking up, then it's easy to change partners and enjoy sex with different people in a short time without any disapproval.
This may suit people in their late teens, making out, trying out, experimenting, finding their way, but for most normal people this soon palls. We all want someone who actually likes us, has chosen us and cares for us. None of us want to be one of a crowd of bodies to be laid. Do we? If you're starved of sex, I suppose this might seem ok.
