It doesn't matter over the years of a relationship if you each prefer different music styles but it does matter if one of you insists on playing it on long car journeys. In other words, what matters is how you treat each other's tastes. If she likes opera and is happy to go alone, if he likes handball, she doesn't but is okay about him spending time playing, then the relationship will be fine.
It's all about give and take, respect for differences, not rebellion. If you share the same tastes it does make life easier, but it's not absolutely essential if you're both ready for the other to enjoy their own thing.
