Jumbo died in St Thomas, Southwest of London, Ontario Canada. He died September It is believed that Jumbo, Tom Thumb which is another Elephant and their keeper, Matthew Scott were taking a walk back to the cage at about 9:30 PM. A train coming from the east hit Tom Thumb on the leg , Tom fell into a ditch.
Few seconds later, Jumbo was hit at the back of his leg, Jumbo fell to his knees, he put his long trunk on Matthew hand.
After about 15 minutes, Jumbo died. The news of Jumbo death spread all over like wildfire.
Barnum, the owner stated that Jumbo the Elephant died as he was trying to save Tom from the train.
