Elephants use their tusk for many purposes, they use it for lifting objects, for defence and for offence. The tusks protect the trunk which is a sensitive part of the Elephant. The tusks which are modified incisors of the upper jaw are also use to dig the ground to search for food and also to make waterholes. They use the tusk for striping barks of trees to eat.
To humans, the tusk serves as a source of ivory which is use to make many items. Jewelry like earrings, bracelets, brooches, parts of musical instruments like the keys on a piano, cravings and spear tips are made from the ivory gotten from the tusk.
