There are a few species of wallabies that are endangered. One such species is the red-necked wallaby, native to Tasmania. It’s the one getting the most attention right now. It may not be incredibly territorial, but one of its habits is to lie under thick vegetation during the day for cover. Due to developments that come from humans taking over any piece of land, they are losing that vegetation.
However, there are also a couple of rock-wallabies that are endangered. One of them, the yellow-footed rock-wallaby, has been saved from extinction in New South Wales, Australia by using breeding programs and getting rid of foxes and goats where possible since these animals have a history of either hunting the wallabies or eating their food, respectively.
