There are about thirty different species of wallaby. Keeping in mind that the definition of a wallaby is an animal that is similar to the kangaroo, but is smaller than the kangaroo, this isn’t surprising. The wallaby falls into three different genuses due to how the different species have evolved over time.
Most are found in New Zealand, Australia, and New Guinea, but some are found on the islands around these countries. Common wallaby species include Bennett’s, Damas, Red-necked Pademelon, and banded-hare wallabies. In fact, the first three are often considered good species of wallabies to have as pets.
Due to this diversity in genus and more specific classifications, it would not be possible to list all the different species without making this a very boring and long post.
