No, not all women are feminists. In fact, during the height of the feminist movement in the 1970’s there was a counter-feminism movement, led by Phyllis Schlafly. She believed many women “enjoyed their roles as mothers and housewives”. She was very outspoken against the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) warning if the ERA passed women would lose child support and would be eligible to be drafted for service in the military.
Many women today still enjoy their roles as mothers and housewives and don’t really care about feminism. In addition, other women believe they can be strong and independent and don’t need to join a movement.
