It was in the year 1981 when Pope John Paul II was shot at by Mehmet Ali Agca. Agca had a different religion and he felt that the Pope was doing something considered to be blasphemous. The Pope was hit four times and he suffered from blood loss but he was able to recover. He forgave Agca and he said that he would like Agca to be pardoned.
It was in the year 2000 when Agca was deported to Turkey. Even though Agca was imprisoned due to the other killings that he did, he and the Pope became friends. He even sent a letter to the Pope back in 2005 when the Pope was sick.
