The flute demands the best aspects of musicality. It takes a dedicated musician to excel at playing the flute. The flute makes a beautiful and soothing sound. It also sounds good with many other musical instruments. It has a mellow tone, and it is fun in duets and ensembles. It is delightful sounding when it is incorporated into all types of music. These include classical, modern, rock, jazz, pop, easy listening, gospel, contemporary and Christian.

Also, other woodwind instruments play similarly, such as the clarinet and the saxophone, and are easy for the flutist to learn how to play.

I do think the flute may be an underrated instrument. But, I love listening to the sound of a flute, especially when it’s being played by Jethro Tulls’ Ian Anderson. I also enjoy a flute concerto. A flute makes me think of butterflies. Its sound is light and airy.

I also think a flute is a great instrument for children to learn to play because it is not terribly expensive, it’s easy to carry, and fairly easy for beginners to learn. And, after learning how to play a flute, it’s easier to learn how to play the piccolo or saxophone.
