Quokkas are quite intelligent. Everyone has noticed that taking selfies with these animals is all the rage and that they often seem happy and excited to do so. This is actually a ploy to get an easy meal. Although human food is very bad for them, they will do whatever needs to be done to obtain it.
For them, this means acting cute, cuddly, and yes, taking selfies. They learn tricks and are happy to put on a show—for a price. So, yes, quokkas are intelligent AND manipulative, while still being known as the world’s most adorable animal.
Quokkas are brilliant animals. They are known to gather most of their moisture from the vegetation they eat. Their small size has enabled them to become masters of undergrowth. The quokka will dutifully create tunnels that they use as runways through dense vegetation, which allows them to hop extremely fast when a predator threatens them.
They are good at being survivors. They are also excellent climbers. They can climb about a meter or so up into trees. They are also excellent diggers. They will burrow tunnels through vegetation for napping and escaping predators.
