Quokkas are known to be friendly toward humans. They probably just want your food which is discouraged because it can make them sick. Although they do tend to approach tourists, it should be noted that these animals are still wild.

They also have sharp claws and teeth and will use them if they feel threatened in any way. These animals appear naturally happy so it can be difficult to tell if it is feeling angry, frightened, or threatened and may attack without warning.

The quokkas have very little fear of humans, and it is typical for quokkas to approach people, especially on Rottnest Island. It is prohibited for the public to handle these animals in any way, and feeding the quokka is especially discouraged because it can make the animal sick. That being said, quokkas are known for being extremely friendly and comfortable with humans.

On Rottnest Island, the quokkas are so friendly that they will regularly approach guests. These animals are also observed at several zoos and wildlife parks around Australia. They are also very happy, and they love taking pictures with humans.
