It is important to keep your dog’s ears dry in order to prevent ear infections. Use a clean soft towel or cotton balls along with a solution you can mix at home or purchase. To mix your own solution, use equal amounts of warm water with witch hazel, apple cider vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide. Never use alcohol. Place a few in the dog’s ear and massage the base of the ear to let the solution spread through the ear canal.
At this point, your dog will probably want to shake his head and that’s okay; the shaking helps to loosen up any dirt. Next, using the towel or cotton balls, gently wipe the inside of the ear flap and as much of the ear canal as you can reach.
