All dog breeds are susceptible to certain health issues known to be particularly common to the breed. For example, Labrador retrievers, German Shepherds, and other large dog breeds are known to have elbow/hip dysplasia. This condition happens when the elbow/hip socket doesn’t match up with the joint and pain and lameness can then result from arthritis.
Cancer is known to be the most common in Boxers and several breeds can suffer from eye issues such as Pugs and Poodles. Regardless, common health issues in any breed can often be minimized by careful breeding.
