Drums can be played unbelievably fast but speed isn’t necessarily the best way to measure a good drummer; it’s just a gimmick if you ask me. According to Guinness World Records, the most drumbeats in a minute using drumsticks is 2,109, achieved by Siddharth Nagarajan from India February 2017.
It’s also really interesting to note that NAMM (the U.S. National Association of Music Merchants) holds a “World’s Fastest Drummer” competition every summer. The 2017 winner won with 1,208 strokes in 60 seconds.
