Psychologists believe that humans, to some extent, have the ability to be narcissistic in nature. However, there are certain things that are exaggerated in a narcissistic person that are not so in “normal” people.
Normal people are selfless to certain extend but a narcissistic person is selfish and always want the best for him or herself alone. Narcissistic people lack empathy, they do not show emotions but normal people have the ability to feel and share in the emotion and feelings of others.
Normal people do not have persistent feeling of grandiosity and entitlement but all of these are present in a narcissistic person.
"Normal" people are prepared to give and take. Ordinary people can do things selflessly. Also, narcissists tend to be abusive and continuously need proof that other people love them. Narcissists also do not display emotions the way normal people do. They are often cruel to others in such a casual way that it is as natural as breathing for them. They also lack empathy.
They usually require a mature conscience, and they seem to be restrained only by fear of being punished or of damaging their reputations. While narcissists are more sensitive to criticism than ordinary people, they are extremely critical of others. They think they are perfect and hold others to the same standard.
