The IQ is used to measure the intelligence of people and evaluate the level of individual reasoning. In calculating a person's IQ, emphasis are made on the person's mathematical skills, ability to retain memory, ability to solve problems and capacity to handle relationships.
However IQ is calculated by diving an individual's mental age by their chronological age (IQ = MA/CA * 100)
The mental age of an individual is determined by giving the individual an intelligent test and seeing how they performed on the test.
The chronological age is the biological age of the individual.
An IQ or intelligence quotient is a total score derived from several standardized tests designed to access human intelligence. IQ score is obtained by dividing a person's mental age score, which is learned by administering an intelligence test, by the person's chronological age. It must be expressed both in terms of years and months. The resulting fraction is multiplied by 100 to obtain the IQ score.
Scores from intelligence tests are estimates of intelligence. Genetic factors largely decide IQ. When current IQ tests were developed, the median raw score of the norming sample is defined as 15 IQ points greater or less. About two-thirds of the population scores are between 85 and 115, 2.5 percent of the population scores are above 130. 2.5 percent is below 70.
