The most expensive violin in the world is the ‘Lady Blunt’ Stradivarius; it was sold at about $16 million. The violin was made in 1721 by Antonio Stradivari during his ‘Golden Age’.
The violin has been passed from one collector to another and it has remained in its most original form as it has hardly been played. It has been passed from the hands of French luthier Jean Baptiste Vullaume to Lady Anne Blunt where it got the nickname.
The new owner of the violin donated the historic instrument to violinist Anne Akiko Meyers on loan for the rest of her life.
There are a few different violins which are considered to be the most expensive violins in the world. These include the Lady Tennant Stradivarius. This violin is the creation of the famous Italian master, Antonio Stradivari in 1699. Another one is the Vieuxtemps Guarneri. This violin was made in 1741 by Guarneri.
This violin was auctioned for a bare price at $18 million. The Lady Blunt Stradivarius is another masterpiece by Stradivarius, which was sold for $16 million. The Molitor Stradivarius was made in 1697 by Stradivari as well. It was said to have been owned by the famous French General, Napoleon Bonaparte.
