The modern guitar originated in Spain in the 18th century. The previous eras used an instrument similar to a guitar but had only 4 strings and 8 frets. During the Baroque period, these string instruments added a string making it a five-string instrument with moveable frets.
Then in the 18th century, a guitar with 6 strings was very popular in Spain. This also had 17 frets that are very much alike to the modern acoustic guitars that we are using now. It was written on a 1799 Spanish book that this 6-string, a 17-fret guitar was widely famous and used by the Spanish people. The shape of the guitar also originated from this time period and country.
It was in the 1930’s when an American inventor named Paul Tutmarc from Seattle, Washington created the first guitar style electric bass instrument. In the 1950's, Leo Fender designed the first mass-produced electric guitar which became famous. This kind of instrument was introduced to meet the demands of musicians and bass players.
As far as electric bass guitars are concerned, the bass guitar was created by Tutmac in the 1930's and developed further by Fender in the 1950's. The fender telecaster guitar was the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar. The precision bass was released in 1951. Fender began designing the Stratocaster in 1953.
