What are the two types of lung cancer?

If the classification of lung cancer will be broad, the types of lung cancer can be separated into two categories. The first category is Small Cell Lung Cancer and the other category is Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. The categorization of cancer will depend on the appearance of the tumor cells.

Take note that the distinction between the two types is very important as there are different treatments that are available from both. The most common is a type of non-small cell lung cancer called Adenocarcinoma.

This is a type of lung cancer that can affect both men and women. Small Cell Lung Cancer or SCLC is considered to be the more aggressive form of cancer. This is usually discovered when they have already spread.
