There are a lot of reports stating that smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer. Actually, there are still a lot more things that can cause lung cancer. Not everyone gets the disease because they are smokers. There are other factors that can affect how people will be more vulnerable to the disease.
For example, some may become more prone to it because they have other family members who were also diagnosed with lung cancer or other types of lung cancer in the past. Some are also more vulnerable because they are exposed more to genetic mutations and the dirt in the environment.
Smoking is only one of the possible causes of lung cancer. It is not the only cause. It should also be noted that second-hand smoke is considered to be worse than actual smoking. There are some smokers who get lung cancer because of smoking. They have damaged their lungs to the point that it will be hard for their lungs to recover but there are also some who are spared.
They manage to live long lives even if they may be getting some ill effects of smoking such as aged skin and bad teeth. There are some people who have great genes. They have genes that will prevent them from dying an early death.
