It depends. School is a setting in which it is appropriate to teach students which kinds of clothing are acceptable in a formal or social setting. It is more common for females to be reprimanded for their clothes than males. Girls are usually disciplined disproportionately. Certain girls’ attire can distract boys. Rules that are biased can have a negative impact on a girl’s confidence and sense of self.

Yes, the US dress codes are still outdated and sexist. For example, there are some women who are not allowed to wear crop tops because they are “inappropriate” and yet, boys can wear ripped jeans and they would not be called “inappropriate” at all. If the dress codes will be implemented, there should be fair implementation which means that boys have a lot of rules to follow the same as the girls.
