To some degree, yes. The fact that Obama was the first black president allowed him to create a milestone of hope for future generations to come. The three words that changed everything during his time in office were: Black Lives Matter. These words were said when Obama gave an important speech on race.

Obama made it clear that he was a post-racial president for everyone, not just the blacks. It was because of Obama’s policies that there was more equality than before he came along. With his signature health care law and his efforts concerning access to college, he had improved the overall condition of the country.
