Freddy Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, died of AIDS in 1991. Mercury's death was tough for John Deacon. He took part in some early tribute projects, like the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert and the finishing of the album Made in Heaven. After that album was made, he refused to take part in any further Queen projects.
Deacon has since turned his back on the limelight and fame. Queen's former drummer, Roger Taylor very severely damaged his hearing because of all the years of exposure to high decibel sound while he sang with Queen. A serious alcoholic, John Bonham died in September 1980 at age 32 years old.
