Why did Michael Jackson wear gloves all the time?

Michael first started wearing gloves to hide his skin condition. The glove was white with glitter on it and It had rows of rhinestones on it. The glove was made famous in the music video for the song, "Billie Jean." It became his trademark. He wore it on his left hand until he figured out it would look cool to wear gloves on both sides.

He was beginning to develop the condition known as vitiligo. His lupus also led to rashes and flaking of the skin. Vitiligo led to blotches and lightening of his skin. He was starting to get a speckled look on his body, particularly on his face and hands. He wore the glove to hide his skin condition.
