Elvis died at the age of forty-two in Memphis, Tennessee in 1977. He was found on the floor of his bathroom and he had died of a heart attack, which was reported to be caused by a drug overdose. He was addicted to Demerol, and he had lung and kidney failure.
The cycle of continually using both uppers and downers had compromised his body so that his bodily functions did not work. He was also grossly overweight, and that put a strain on his heart. He also had been suffering from enlarged colon and liver damage.
