The term one-hit wonder is most often used to describe music performers who have only one hit single, or one signature song. Some examples of great one-hit wonders are: "In a big country," by Big Country. The band was a poor man's U2 and in the song, they band made their guitars sound like bagpipes.
"Take on me," by "Ah-ha was a fun 80's song. The video was massively popular with it's black and white comic book story. The 90's remake of "Smooth Criminal" was inspired by Michael Jackson, and performed by the band, Alien Ant Farm.
"O-o-h Child," by Five Stairsteps is highly regarded as being one of the greatest songs of all time, but the group never had another mainstream hit. The song was featured on the hit tv show, "Scandal."
