Julius Caesar was a leader who was killed by a large group of conspirators. However, these conspirators were not thugs in Rome. Instead, they were senators who helped Caesar lead the country. The other unusual thing about this death was that there were about sixty of them. Plus, some of the senators were friends of Julius Caesar.
The last senator to stab Julius Caesar to death was Brutus who was a good friend of Caesar. In the days before the murder, Cassius, another conspirator and ringleader of the murder talked Brutus into helping kill Caesar. After much convincing, Brutus agreed. When Brutus stepped forward to stab Caesar, Caesar looked at Brutus and said, “Et tu, Brute” in Latin which means “And you too, Brutus.”
