Most likely, there is really no hero in the Julius Caesar play which is why it was a tragedy. Most of Shakespeare’s tragedies have no happy ending and no hero. However, if there had to be a hero in the Julius Caesar play, it would either be Mark Antony due to the speech he gave at the funeral or Julius Caesar himself.
Mark Antony gave a speech at the funeral after the conspirators gave their speech to explain why the conspirators should be shamed and are to blame. The people of Rome were fickle, so they believed whoever spoke last which was Mark Antony. The people of Rome agreed with Mark Antony, so he would be the real hero of the play.
In the Julius Caesar play, Marcus Brutus exemplifies the classic tragic hero and his fatal flaw is being too naïve. He makes an error in judgment, and it causes his downfall. When he kills Caesar, all of Rome turns against the conspirators.
Brutus was known for his noble personality, and he cared more about others than he did himself. He believed the world was right. Because he was loyal, he believed others were loyal. His idealism causes him to make serious errors in judgment. He died in battle by committing suicide, rather than be taken as a prisoner.
