Not only was Cassius involved in the conspiracy of Julius Caesar’s death, but he was the leading instigator in Caesar’s death. He began the plot to kill him. He got his brother-in-law, Brutus who was friends with Julius Caesar to become part of the plot in killing Caesar. Cassius was a leader in ancient Rome and he spent two years in his office.
Then he decided to become friends with Cicero. While gaining conspirators for his idea, Cassius was later able to step aside as the ring leader of the future assassination of Caesar and let Brutus take over. Then when the assassination took place, Brutus was looking like the one in charge of the killing. However, Cassius was like the cheerleader behind the other conspirators on the day of the killing.
In many ways, Cassius was the instigator behind the assassination. He brought Brutus into the conspiracy, which gave it legitimacy. Cassius opposed Caesar. He commanded troops to go against Caesar during the war after Caesar defeated Pompey in the battle of Pharsalus.
Caesar overtook Cassius. In 48 BC, Cassius sailed his ships to Sicily, where he attacked and burned a sizable part of Caesar’s army. Cassius urged his fellow liberators and struck Caesar in the chest. Cassius acted out of greed and ambition. Brutus and Cassius were the organizers of the conspiracy, and they expected the people to be in favor of the death of Ceasar.
