The United States men’s national football team has participated in World Cups in the past. However, they did not qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The last time the U.S. didn’t qualify for the world cup was in 1986. The main reason that the U.S. didn’t qualify for the World Cup in 2018 was because of their loss to Trinidad and Tobago.
They did not win enough games during the qualifying rounds and they did not meet the fair play rule where they had fewer yellow and red cards compared to the other teams. Before the World Cup, they tied Bosnia and Herzegovina and lost to Ireland, but they won against Paraguay and Bolivia. Hopefully, in 2022, the United States will qualify for the next World Cup.
A lot of Americans were devastated when they did not reach the World Cup. This is the first time that it occurred in three decades so it is truly surprising for a lot of people. The main reason why USA failed to make the cut is because of its loss against Trinidad and Tobago. This is stunning to say the least but this is true.
After all of the teams have competed, USA was only able to reach the fifth spot which means that they have no chance of getting a spot. Some say that teams may become very confident at times that they get stunned when they lose. This is one of the possible reasons why USA have lost their spot.
