How likely is Russia to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup?

Russia has a good chance of making it through to the Round of 16 based upon the group that they have been placed in. They also have a benefit of being the host country. However, Russia is not as strong as the other teams. Also, their stats aren’t as great as other countries’ national teams. Prior to the World Cup, they lost three games to Brazil, France and Austria and tied with Turkey. They did not win any games prior to the World Cup.

Therefore, it is unlikely that Russia will win the 2018 FIFA World Cup. They will probably win against the teams in their group which are Egypt and Saudi Arabia. However, you never know who might win because sometimes the world cup can be surprising.

A lot of experts are saying that Russia will probably get as far as the second round before they stop playing for the rest of the World Cup. It does not help that they are only ranked 65 all over the world. It can be a problem if they do not reach the finals though. The only way that they can reach the finals is if Portugal and Spain would not play. This is quite impossible at this point.

Portugal has improved their team steadily over the past 2 years and Spain is known to be one of the teams that could win the World Cup provided that the odds are in their favor. The only factor that is working in favor of Russia is they are hosting the World Cup.
