Was YouTube Google's plan or an acquired company?

Three creators from PayPal originally created YouTube. They were having difficulty finding certain videos and wanted to make a platform to introduce videos free to everyone. They were Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. Google bought YouTube on November 13 in 2006. Before this process, google had no play in the website. YouTube is Googles 2nd largest acquisition, which it acquired for a staggering $1.65 billion.

The agreement signed between google and YouTube was that YouTube would continue to work as an independent company but within Google. Google broke down the funds of each investor with more than $300 million going to each of the major investors.
