Top hats were all the rage in the 1800s to the early 1900s. Almost every person wore the hat back in the day. However, over time, different kinds of hats were introduced, while top hats were restricted to the black tie attire. Slowly, the top hats became too expensive. Being made of beaver fur or expensive silk, it wasn’t something everyone could afford.
