Mobile phone has become such an essential part of everyday life that it is hard to imagine a life without it. However, people in their 40s remember that mobile phones were not so common a short while ago. They had to watch movies I cinemas. Games were limited to the arcade or the Nintendo.

Younger than forty, you only have to watch older films and read books that came before than 1990 and the plot is considerably changed by the lack of mobile phones. Nowadays, usage is excessive such as intimate meals spoiled by faces concentrated upon their tiny screen instead of on each other. Accidents can be caused by people on their phones not attending to traffic or even passers-by in the streets. But use of phone for communication needs to be separated from use of mobile phone for internet access. Many avoid phoning, relying on text instead. Hence the development of a new, quite economical text language.
