One good thing about Facebook is that they have a privacy link for their users which is located on the users' pages. This allows for things such as controlling who can and cannot see what a person posts or even seeing personal information such as where someone lives or even what their phone number is. There are all kinds of other security features that Facebook offers to its users. These features are put in place to ensure users that their information is safe and it allows for users to only let who they want to see what they post and what status updates that they make.
Facebook arguably has the best security features in place to help protect the private information of their users. While the company has come under fire and scrutiny for the recent Cambridge Analytica scandal, the user page interface easily allows for privacy and security control which is easy to control and manipulate. The company gets high praises throughout the computer world for their user security controls.
All Facebook users need to maintain privacy on this social giant for various reasons. Initially, it protects our personal stuff from the wrong hands. And of course we don’t want recruiters, bosses, and our teachers make wrong judgments about our professionalism after seeing our personal photos/videos on Facebook.
Enhancing privacy on Facebook is not a big deal and you can do it on your own. For that, you need some tips and preventive methods which I will share with you. Although, there are various ways to enhance privacy and security on this social networking site you can follow the following.
Allow only your close friends on Facebook to view your timeline. For this, you need to make some changes in your Facebook profile. Doing so will permit only limited people to access your personal information (photos/videos).
Visit your “Privacy Settings” option, then click on “Account Settings” and choose “Who can see my future posts”. By default, this option will be “Public”. You need to opt for the “Friends” option. Your future posts will be visible to only your friends.
Never provide information to third-party applications as they can tap your personal data which might be harmful for you in the future(That caused the Cambridge Analytica scandal).
At last, enable an extra layer of security features provided by Facebook itself. You will get this option in Facebook’s Settings page, under “Security and Login” feature.
Just consider these suggestions and apply to your Facebook profile. It will definitely make your Facebook a lot safer to use.
