The reason that there is a trade war between the United States and China is that U.S. President Donald Trump believed the Chinese were using deceptive and illegal tactics in order to conduct business in the United States. it is obvious that there is a huge trade imbalance between the United States and China. This is the reason that President Trump decided to place tarriffs on certain Chinese imports into the country. The Chinese have also started to take away American jobs while at the same time flooding the U.S. with imported goods. The Chinese are the major developers of the vast majoirty of cell phones in the United States so they have leverage because too much taxing of Chinese goods could mean a reciprocation which would mean seeing mobile phones steeply rise in price in the United States.
