Chris Wylie is the person who blew the whistle on Cambridge Analytica. He has said that the positive data about Donald Trump has been exploited to millions of Facebook users in order to lure them into thinking that Trump is the best choice for the presidency. It has been months since news about this has already come up.
The whistleblower about this topic has already said that he does not have any regrets about everything that has happened. He said that his reason for wanting to speak up about it is because he knows just how improper it is. He felt the need to let people know about it so that it will not happen again.
The Cambridge Analytica scandal that affected Facebook had its whistle blown by one of its co-founders and former director of data research in Christopher Wylie. It was in the early part of 2018 when Wylie went to The Guardian magazine and unveiled the fact that Facebook had sold the personal information of 87 million Facebook users without those users giving any consent.
The Facebook user information was sold to Cambridge Analytica as part of their political polling and consulting work to place targeted political ads on Facebook user pages. Facebook users became suspicious as they wondered how a third party was able to get access to personal information. This practice by Facebook forced government inquiries in both the US and Britian and also had Wylie testifying to the Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Committee in the UK.
