As far as artists go, Cardi B has just had a baby. It would make sense that she is not taking a lot of time to work on her music right now. She only emerged on the hip hop scene about a year ago, so it’s not fair to judge her based solely on a year’s worth of work where she’s been pregnant for a majority of it.
That said, there are people who say her newest song, “I Like It,” covers new ground for her. That’s wonderful for her. However, she has a three month old child at home. Let her take care of her child and get a couple more years under her belt as an artist before we start looking at her evolution as a musician.

Then she joined the cast of the VH1 reality series, her talent as a rapper burgeoning when she signed her first major label record deal with Atlantic. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
This was only in 2017, so despite her further successes, isn't it a bit early to discuss how she's developed? However, some may say that "I Like It" tackles new ground. Let her have her baby safely, then her future work will determine how she's developing.
